Prayer To God Always Works Better IF It Is NOT Selfish

DON'T BE SELFISH

“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”
–Philippians 2:3

God’s Word is clear: do NOT be selfish.

“Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
–1PETER 5:3

“For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.”
–Isaiah 66:2

To a God who created ALL things, the very concept of selfishness–of keeping something back from others because it is so beloved of a man–would appear to be difficult to understand. God’s Word touches upon this idea in Isaiah 66:2.

To a God who controls ALL, selfishness is so UNNECESSARY.

It, THEN, makes PERFECT SENSE that such a God is UNMOVED by SELFISH APPEALS.

IF a concept is so SUPERFLUOUS to a being as to be UNNECESSARY, then it stands to reason that appeals to that which is so unnecessary would NOT carry a high degree of success.

THIS MESSAGE IS GIVEN in the hope that the reader will be reminded of it when directing requests to the Creator-of-ALL.

An UNSELFISH prayer is a prayer with a MUCH HIGHER chance of success than one which is chiefly concerned with the welfare of the one doing the praying.

God KNOWS a man’s heart and mind, so let those be UNSELFISH.

“But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. “
–1SAMUEL 16:7

The LORD will then favor that man’s prayer over the one who is concerned with himself.

HAS the reader ever considered what type of prayer he sends to God?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
