Satan: Humans Have An Enemy; Christians Too

SATAN: Murderer, Liar, Killer, Thief, Destroyer

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
–John 8:44

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
–John 10:10

Christians have an enemy. Actually, all humanity has an enemy.

In John 8:44, Jesus called Satan “the devil.” In John 10:10, Jesus called him “the thief.”  Satan goes by many names.

“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

Christians know him by the name of Satan–which is Hebrew for “adversary or the opponent”–and he has many tricks, traps and snares to entangle humans in the cares and pleasures of this present world.

“Casual Christian”  is just another way of saying “someone ensnared by the world.”  And Satan, the one doing the ensnaring,  is called the “prince of this world” or the “god of this world.”

“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”

“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
–2 Corinthians 4:4

But many Christians don’t really believe in Satan–just as they don’t really believe in hell. And once Christians start down the path of unbelief, it soon leads to the wide road of destruction.

” Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:”
–Matthew 7:13

The majority of these men called themselves “Christians” even as they walked about in disastrous situations, but I think even the casual observer would have a hard time distinguishing between the casual “christian” and the world.

Many of us (I know of a few), much like those in AA, came to a point where we decided that what we were doing was not working, and that we had unsuccessfully tried to wrestle control away from God, deciding that we and the broken world around us knew better about how to handle the devastation around us. Most do not even realize that they are in a spiritual battle for their very lives because religion succumbed to outside pressure and sanitized what we have been taught, avoiding the idea that there is an enemy (his name is Satan), and that he is out to kill you. In a sense we had to take a realistic, moral inventory, give the control back to God, come to an understanding that we are in a 24/7 spiritual battle, and realize that our only hope is on our knees before God in prayer fighting for our minds, our families and those around us.

Here is the problem that many modern Christians–particularly American Christians–face. Especially, casual Christians.

If you don’t know you have an enemy, you can’t defend yourself. And make no mistake about it, Satan is humanity’s enemy.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
–1 Peter 5:8

Again: if you have your head in the ground and don’t see an enemy, you can’t defend yourself. It’s hard to find a solution if you are unaware you have a problem.

SATAN, SIN: THE PROBLEM.  WHAT’S THE SOLUTION?

Satan is the enemy.  Sin is the problem.  What’s the solution?

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”–John 8:12

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”–John 14:6

“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”–John 6:35

“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”–John 20:31

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” –Romans 6:23

Satan exists. Satan is real. Satan hates you and every other human. He wants to drag you to hell. Hell was not created for humans, but unfortunately, it is where many humans will be condemned to spend eternity.

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:”
–Matthew 25:41

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Fight back against satanic disinformation.

Believe on Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

Do You Know if You are Going to Heaven?  Be Sure!

Satan may be the god of this world, but through Jesus, believers have victory over the world and the snares of Satan!

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

Don’t be deceived: Satan would love to drag you along with him into destruction. Satan is very real.

Not saved?
