HIGH PLACES
“And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger”
—2 Kings 17:9, 11
A recent discussion centered on the “high places” which are mentioned in the Bible. One person in the discussion maintained that the church had to claim “all the high places for God.”
God’s Word says NOTHING about utilizing such pagan worship sites for Himself. Repeatedly He says He will destroy such places.
“And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.”
-—Leviticus 26:30
“…and thou shalt tread upon their high places.”
—Deuteronomy 33:29
And yet there are Americans who are busy setting up their own high places–all the while maintaining they are worshiping Jesus.
Many of these high places have been set up in the buildings known as “churches.” But no matter where these places of heathen worship are set up, their days are numbered.
“Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places.”
—Numbers 33:52
THE GROVES
The heathen set up high places and groves [green spaces] to worship their pagan, demonic ‘gods.’ Both ancient Israel and modern America have imitated these doomed, heathen practices.
How many of the world’s cities contain mandatory “green spaces“?
Has the reader ever wondered WHY such emphasis has been placed upon the creation of groves and green spaces in urban planning?
“Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:”
—Deuteronomy 12:2
Pagans set up their idols in these high places and groves. The Bible is clear that behind every idol and pagan god is a devil (demon). Which is why the high places and groves were the places of worship and sacrifice to evil spirits and demons.
“What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.”
–1Corinthians 10:19-20
“They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.”
–Deuteronomy 32:17
This pagan worship of minor spirits (whom they mistakenly call “gods”) continues right through the end times.
“And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk”
–Revelation 9:20
What does God promise for those constructing such whorish high places?
“For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree. And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
—1 Kings 14:23-24
In many areas of the world, worship of the dragon (Satan) is ready and waiting: the proscribed places of worship have been constructed and set up for quite some time by those in power, both in the churches and the state.
YET, the few believers do not struggle against the human idolators, but against those who have deceived and enslaved those humans using trinkets, parlor tricks and lies.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
—Ephesians 6:12
END TIMES SURVIVAL: We Fight Spiritual Battles, Not Physical Ones
Is the reader worshiping at a high place or grove?
Such places cannot stand. The signs of this coming calamity (after a short season of success) are all around to those with eyes to see.
There is still yet time to run to a permanent rock of safety.
