JUDGMENT DAY: Overheard on Judgment Day

overheard

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”
–Hebrews 9:27

Since God’s Word is the ultimate in preparation for those who believe and follow its warnings, it stands to reason that the Bible would contain a LOT of information about the day on which God judges ALL of humanity.

And, so it does.

Jesus made a VERY succinct remark about judgment when he was on the earth.  It would prove EXTREMELY HELPFUL to all those who do not believe they will be judged to take to heart the words of Jesus.

“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”
–John 12:48

Alas! Those who do not believe will NOT selectively choose ANY words of Jesus to follow.

In the times in which we now live, practically ALL men do not believe they will be judged by a Perfect Judge.

Some do not believe God will judge at all.

Others do not believe there is a God.

Still others don’t know WHAT to believe–and so they choose not to think about it.

“Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
–Acts 17:29-31

When the apostle Paul spoke these words to the pagans of first century Athens, some reacted as moderns do today.

HOWEVER, some did not. Some of the pagans seriously considered what Paul had to say.

“And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.”
–Acts 17:32

Were any Athenians eternally saved?

Hard to say, but how many moderns today would seriously consider like-minded words?

A most interesting observation was made by the same apostle Paul to the believers at Corinth.

“For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.”
–1CORINTHIANS 11:31

Meaning: IF men would closely, honestly and sincerely examine themselves, their actions, their motivations, their behaviours, their relationship with God the Father and Jesus Christ, there would be no need for God to render His judgment.

But how many live in fear of God and the ultimate judgment?

Not all of God’s judgments are reserved for the next life.

Demons, Devils, Familiar Spirits: The Demonic is a Perfect Judgment from God

The Bible tells us that ALL WHO LIVE ON EARTH during the last days will worship Satan and his unholy beasts.

“And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
–Revelation 13:8

So, we’re not very far at all from the end.

The FINAL JUDGMENT OF GOD for ALL men is described in some detail in God’s Word.

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. “
–Revelation 20:11-15

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
–2CORINTHIANS 5:10

All of this brings to mind what will likely be said by those being judged–who NEVER, EVER believed they would be in that circumstance–on Judgment Day as bits and pieces of their lives are played back to them by the Perfect Judge Himself.

The following are likely to be OVERHEARD  on Judgment Day by those who NEVER believed they would EVER be judged.

“I didn’t know that…”

“Are you sure?”

“I never thought of that.”

“Come on!  You’re really going to go through with this?”

“THIS is not what I was told would happen!”

“How was I to know?”

“Everybody said…”

“There’s no second chance, now that I know for sure?”

“But I tried to be a good person!”

“Who are you to judge ME?”

DOES the reader believe he will escape judgment by a holy God?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
