An Eventful Week

When one usually thinks of an “eventful week,” they think of 7 days full of ACTION! and well…events, happenings.

BUT, it might be pointed out the last week of October/first week of November is an eventful week EVERY YEAR.

This is because the week began with the world’s very loud celebration of the pagan festival of HALLOWEEN.  About a week later, the time changes back to standard time and the days grow shorter and more dark–until they begin to lengthen once again on December 21.

(Did the reader remember to set his clocks back?  IF NOT: do it NOW!)

In 2022, the week is bookended nicely: at the beginning of the week, preparations and the culmination of the Halloween season happens on Monday, October 31.  Sunday, November 6, is the day on which Daylight Savings Time ends for the year and on which Standard Time begins almost  nationwide.

Looking at it another way: Halloween promotes darkness and the Standard Time makes that darkness a part of every evening in November, December, January, February until Standard Time ends March 12, 2023.

Those were the two MAJOR events of the week, but there were PLENTY of other days for various folks to commemorate.

For hunters, various game seasons are happening including (in many states), rabbit, squirrel, bear, turkey and some deer hunting. Depending upon the state where the hunting takes place, various rules and regulations regarding the SEASONS one may hunt various animals are observed.

For the hunters of bargains and brouhahas, Black Friday kicks off the Season of Greed during Thanksgiving at the end of November. So that’s still several weeks away.

For the hunters of traditions of apostasy, there was ALL SAINTS DAY on November 1 and a day later, ALL SOULS DAY.  Both are commemorative days selected and promoted by the Catholic Church, as well as by other followers of apostasy and tradition.

MOST weeks contain a birthday or two or some anniversary which begs to be celebrated by the world and those who live for it.

BUT, this whole week past was framed by Halloween and the clocks changing (the ‘Fall Back’ of the Daylight saving time drill.)

Daylight saving time (DST), also referred to as daylight savings time or simply daylight time (United States, Canada, and Australia), and summer time (United Kingdom, European Union, and others), is the practice of advancing clocks (typically by one hour) during warmer months so that darkness falls at a later clock time. The typical implementation of DST is to set clocks forward by one hour in the spring (“spring forward”), and to set clocks back by one hour in autumn (“fall back”) to return to standard time. As a result, there is one 23-hour day in late winter or early spring and one 25-hour day in autumn.

DID the reader feel that this past week was eventful?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
