What Should the Reader Be Doing During the End Times?

where does it all end?

A week ago, the question was asked: What Should the Believer Be Doing During the End Times?

This logically led to the question: “Since so many moderns are NOT believers, what should THEY be doing?”

After some thought was devoted to the topic, it was decided that modern readers should be divided into THREE groups–instead of the customary TWO.

Constituting GROUP ONE: those who believe they are believers (of God’s Word, of God’s commands AND/OR the commands of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. These do NOT have to ACTUALLY be believers: they only have to believe they are.  These are mostly ‘good church-going folks.’

GROUP TWO consists of a numerically more numerous group which is diametrically opposed to those in the much smaller GROUP ONE. GROUP TWO is made up of those moderns who scoff at the Bible and see no difference in following the Bible or following random names from the New York phone directory.

And finally, GROUP THREE.

Who is in GROUP THREE?

Those folks who are inveterate fence-sitters.

This last group contains those moderns who JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT TO THINK. They are the group which hems and haws and comes to the conclusion that “Maybe I’ll just wait and see.

This third group might be the most difficult to deal with.  After all, they are not against OUTSPOKEN about their opposition to  God, they just aren’t sure what to think.

BUT, “wait and see” has been declared to be unbelief on the ‘slow-burn plan.’  More on that later.

So, what should those folks in GROUP ONE and GROUP TWO be doing during the end times?

GROUP TWO is the easiest.  Those who are in GROUP TWO can do whatever they please–as they do NOT believe that God’s Word is true.

GROUP TWO contains those who will be completely surprised at how things turn out when it is revealed to them that God’s Word IS true.  However, it is so sad that this realization comes TOO LATE to do anyone in this group much good.

GROUP ONE?

The ones in this group should be preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, attempting to lure others into the kingdom of heaven to save them from eternal torment AND praying with all of their might that they are REALLY saved and not just pretending to be (based on what they have been told and what traditions they follow say).

There will be much excuse-making in GROUP ONE because the other TWO GROUPS will not find it necessary to explain themselves–OR their shortcomings.

“But I thought…”

“But I believed…”

“But I felt…”

A few years ago, it was published that TWO PERCENT of church-goers shared the gospel message with someone else.

TWO PERCENT?

In good times?

During a time when there was little persecution to be had for doing so?

When the outcome of where their friends and family would spend eternity was on the line?

‘Preaching the gospel’ is one of the most BASIC of the Christian duties.

“And he [Jesus] said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
–Mark 16:15

“If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister”
–Colossians 1:23

IF a group of individuals who believe they are eternally saved do NOT preach the gospel, they are not even Christians.

ANOTHER END TIMES COMMAND which seems to be routinely ignored by those who believe they are eternally saved is the one to “WATCH.”

“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
–Mark 13:37

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
–Matthew 24:42

IF one believes he is eternally saved, then he will WATCH to see when the prime mover of his salvation appears. But many figure that there is no need to watch because the end times events they would be watching for CAN’T BE MISSED.

HOWEVER, it will be somewhat startling how many folks during the last days are COMPLETELY surprised by the long-announced return of Jesus.

SO, regardless of which group the reader finds himself, what can be done?

1 Preach the gospel.
2 WATCH!
3 Warning others about the coming judgment/wrath which will fall upon the earth.
4 Win souls to the kingdom of heaven.
5 Establish a regular time to REGULARLY discuss matters with God the Father.

And the ‘slow-burn plan’ which was mentioned earlier?

IF one doesn’t have the courage of his convictions, then he is only fooling himself–even though he KNEW what was right. “Extenuating circumstances” which kept him from completing what he KNEW was right will likely be a commonly-enough heard excuse.

This is what ALL readers who believe they are eternally saved–for whatever reason–SHOULD be doing during the last days.

NOT making excuses.

DOES the reader believe he is eternally saved?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
