Overcomer: The Bible vs The World

OVERCOMERS: What the Bible says vs. What the world says
OVERCOMER: What the Bible says vs. What the world says

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
Revelation 12:11

In the end times, believers will be tested by a time of trial and tribulation. Those who come through those times unspotted are called “overcomers.” Jesus makes many wonderful promises to the overcomer in Revelation 2, 3 and 21.

[Revelation 2:7, 2:11, 2:17, 2:26, 3:5, 3:12, 3:21 and 21:7.]

“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”
Revelation 21:7

Who are these overcomers?

John tells us in his first epistle.

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”
1 John 5:4

“Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”
1 John 5:5

Revelation 12:11 declares that overcomers will “love not their lives unto death.”

So there will be some martyrs among them.

This is the believer. This is the Christian.

This is the overcomer.

But what does the world say? Unbelievers have their own names for the overcomers.

What do unbelievers call the overcomers?

Sky pilot.

“Jesus freak.”

Bible thumpers.”

Those Left Behind.”

“God squad.”

Devil dodger.

“Too heavenly-minded to be any earthly good.”

Goody Two-shoes.”

“Harp polisher.”

Fundy” or “Fundamentalist.”

…and worse.

But believers know that part of the coming persecution will be even more ridicule than they are subjected to at present.

The world will have a number of names for the end times Christian, none which is very flattering.

The Bible calls the end times Christian “overcomer.”

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.”
Revelation 2:7

What name do you have?

Do you want to be part of the eternally victorious?

Do you want to become an overcomer?

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
2 Corinthians 4:3

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
