TELL ME A LIE
“That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits”
–Isaiah 30:9-10
Isaiah 30:9-10 tells of a people who desire to be deceived.
A people who DEMAND to be deceived.
Regardless of what men say, most men enjoy being lied to.
Why is this?
A recent conversation–where this topic came up–might shed some light.
One person offered “People enjoy being lied to.”
“Men don’t want the truth.”
Someone else added, “Most value their comfort over the truth.”
ALL agreed that in these last days, men do not mind being deceived because it allows them to live the way they please while maintaining the fiction that they live a “good life” or that they are a “good person.” Others would rather believe lies because this is what the world demands and some want the approval of other men more than they want the truth.
The Bible says men would rather listen to lies because lies are what they desire.
Time and again, God sent prophets to the Israelites with the truth.
Time and again, the Israelites killed God’s prophets and followed false prophets who lied to them. Men have changed little today. Church-goers do not want the truth: they follow the wolves the Bible says will be prevalent in the end times.
Lying TV preachers are VERY popular–especially with the church folks.
Men desire lies because the truth demands a response that most men are not willing or able to give.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
–2Timothy 4:3-4
IS the reader tired of hearing lies?
IS the reader ready for the truth?
IF the reader wants the truth, it will not be easy.
Many claim they want the truth, but they do not: they would rather be lied to.
