“And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court, And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?”
–2Chronicles 20:5-6
Even many of the heathen know the power of the living God.
His power is on display in every aspect of life.
His power is on display every moment of the day or night to all who seek him.
His Word is true–as demonstrated in the pages of any daily newspaper.
Only those who desire to remain deceived; those who desire to live their own way; those who think to cheat judgment deny such power.
When most think of “power,” they think of great displays of supernatural strength or control over nature’s great powers (lightning, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods).
“He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.”
–Jeremiah 10:12
While “power” does imply all of that and more, believers have experienced one of the greatest displays of God’s power already and it is quite private and personal: the new birth; the transformed life; the effects of having God’s Holy Spirit take up residence within them.
To all who have undergone these changes–and wondered what exactly had happened to them–the words of the following New Testament passage suddenly came alive.
“for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth”
–Romans 1:16
Little wonder then, believers need no more displays of God’s awesome power.
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
–1Corinthians 1:18
None of this makes sense to the lost.
God’s Word seems little more than something to be read and quickly forgotten.
When the topic turns to God’s supernatural power, earthquakes and great storms quickly come into the mind of those who have not been transformed.
YET, it is the awesome power of God to turn a pathetic, lost sack of dirt into a true believer–illuminating his mind so that, unlike before, it all makes perfect sense–that is the greatest proof of God Almighty, Jesus Christ and ALL that is written in God’s Word.
All of the great supernatural displays of storms, earthquakes, wars and such earn an almost-perfunctory “Of course” from the true believer.
After undergoing the new birth, it becomes absolutely clear why believers will so willingly give their lives for Jesus Christ in the end times.
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
–Revelation 12:11
HAS the reader undergone the humbling of the new birth?
“There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
–John 3:1-5
(And NO, the above passage has NOTHING to do with water baptism, as some allege.)
HAS the reader experienced the true power of God?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
