Recently, a conversation took place which concluded with a very sincere–and useful!–question.
FIRST, the conversation:
“Okay, so you’ve been preaching about all of the bad stuff which you think is going to happen in the near future. What if it does?”
“What do you mean, ‘What if it does?’ And I don’t preach.”
Okay, so you’ve been telling me about all of the bad things which you think are going to happen soon. What can I do about it?”
And, in spite of the choppy tone of the conversation, the question–“What can I do?” —DEFINITELY seemed to be sincere–and useful (Not only to the person asking the question, but to others as well).
“Well, first off, everything that happens is only bad if a person is lost. Secondly, IF I was someone who was lost but who kept my eyes and ears open and COULD SEE and HEAR how events are turning out, I’d throw myself on the mercy of the LORD.”
“How do you do that?”
“Well, God’s Word says that a person can go to God; tell him ‘Hey, I’ve not been doing what I should have been doing. I want to do better. I want to know you. Please show me your mercy. Help me out here.’”
“Okay…”
“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
–Lamentations 3:22-23
“That include me?”
“Sure. It includes EVERYONE, no matter how bad or good they think they have been.”
“Anything else?”
“Well, in the end times, your testimony of Jesus will be important.”
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
–Revelation 12:11
“Death?”
“Yeah, you might give your life for the testimony of Jesus–but it’s all good. IF you die because of standing up for Jesus, you are going straight to heaven for the rest of eternity!”
“ANYTHING else?”
“Yeah, it might be a good idea to start out seeking God with all of your heart. God says iF you do, He’ll make sure you find Him–and that’s a good thing.”
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
–Matthew 7:7-8
“ANYTHING ELSE?”
“Not for now. That should keep you busy. Oh, and when you find out that you get results, you’ll want to do more.”
And so, in spite of the rocky beginning, the discussion ended on a much higher note.
NOW, the question.
“What can I do?”

Does the reader sometimes wonder, “What if everything is winding up as is written. What can I do about it?”
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
