How Many?

Christianity has a number of messages which bear repeating–and some which bear repeating CONSTANTLY.

One such message is the gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ.

This point arose last week when preparing various articles for publication.

The thought struck, “This topic was just covered a few months ago.  Should it be written about once more?  How many times is TOO MANY?”

“How many is too many?”

This is probably a question best answered by each individual reader.

While focusing on the question, a few thoughts were formed and several got stuck in the mind.

The following originated from those jammed-up thoughts.

1- The gospel message CANNOT be repeated too many times, regardless of how often it appears.

The gospel message should be proclaimed (in words, both written and spoken) OFTEN.

How often is “often“?

Again, the gospel message CANNOT be repeated too many times, regardless of how often it appears.

Preaching the gospel is a COMMAND the believer MUST obey.

“Afterward he [Jesus] appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
–Mark 16:14-15

2- Different readers will treat different messages differently.

This seems to be plain common sense–but many easily forget it.

Readers are NOT a solid mass of humanity with all the same needs and all the same preferences.

One may enjoy reading “slice of life” feature-type pieces; another may prefer hard knowledge from the Bible on various topics concerning the end times; a third may focus on the gospel and those messages which help one understand God’s message.

What may be “too (annoyingly) frequent” for one reader may be “NOT ENOUGH” for another.

3- Readers may miss particular articles or posts which feature particular topics.  While articles themselves may be searched through the ETPR archives, it may be harder to locate those points which only appear in the daily posts.

4- While certain topics are SURE to be covered on a REGULAR basis, others may go MONTHS–if at all–between appearances.

The reader may rest assured that the writers attempt to strike a BALANCE in the articles and topics which are selected for publication each day.

How many is too many?”

Probably the BEST answer to this question is “It depends on the person.”

And while it SEEMS simple enough, it may be harder to keep in mind than most suspect.

DOES the reader have preferences which are different than those of his friends?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
