Revenge Is For Losers

REVENGE

“Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.”
–Romans 12:17

God’s Word is MORE THAN CLEAR: man is NOT to revenge himself.

Jesus Himself echoed this thought when He walked this earth.

“But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.”
–Matthew 5:39

Jesus took the thought even further.

“And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.”
–Matthew 5:40-41

Jesus THEN explained why the believer should perform such un-manlike actions.

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
–Matthew 5:43-48

BUT–in case the believer was beginning to think that his enemies hold all of the cards–God declares ONCE MORE that the believer should ‘roll with the punches.’

“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”
–Romans 12:18

Just as the believer MAY have been having second thoughts, God declares His JUDGMENT and WHY the believer is NOT to concern himself with avenging himself.

“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

The believer KNOWS the answer to who is better at avenging: God or man?

It is God.

So let God do his judgment and avenging and let the believer do as he is instructed to do in God’s Word.

As far as man is concerned: “Revenge is for losers.”

ETERNALLY LOST and tormented losers.

HAS the reader been led to thoughts of how he might avenge the many wrongs he has suffered?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

DOES the reader believe he is saved?

DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
—1 Corinthians 15:1-8
