PRIDE, AMERICA and SIN: A Proud People, A Proud Country

Pride and Self“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
–Proverbs 16:18

An excessive amount of pride is a sure sign a country is going down and going down HARD.

Those who hang out in the churches love to talk about the terrible behaviors of the atheists and especially the homosexuals. Occasionally, the talk turns to Sodom and Gomorrah and God’s judgment on those two thriving cities.

“Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.”
–Ezekiel 16:49-50

But when referring to Sodom, “PRIDE” was the sin mentioned first mentioned by God in Ezekiel.

“When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.”

–Proverbs 11:2

Proud to an American

American is a land where EVERYONE is proud of something.

But before a country can properly indulge in the sin of pride, it has to be taught to lust after SELF!

And Americans are taught from a young age to “depend on yourself,” to “take pride in everything you do” and to “pull yourself up by your own bootstraps.”

American and Proud

America is a Land of Pride.

Pride is not a virtue. Pride is not a good quality.

Pride is a SIN.

Americans are a proud people–and are a people who loudly proclaim their pride to the world.

And “pride goeth before destruction.”

Just a little reminder.

“And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”
–Matthew 18:12

Is the reader proud?

It’s time to trade pride for humility.
