Money Can’t Buy You Love–Or Happiness

MONEY MONEY MONEY“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”
–Timothy 6;7

When Economic Growth Doesn’t Make People Happy

That economic expansion leads to greater well-being is a central tenet of modern thought. And yet, that’s not what is happening in America today.

Two thoughts:

1) Maybe the things of this world are not the source of happiness? Despite all of the propaganda, apparently, money CANNOT buy you love–OR happiness.

Anyone who knows the wealthy knows they do not lead carefree lives.  Perhaps that is why so many commit suicide or lead lives full of self-destruction?

Don’t envy the super-rich, they are miserable

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
–1Timothy 6:10

There are those who substitute the things of this world for a personality, happiness and or status.

Those who do this are, to a large degree, very unhappy people.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
–1John 2:15-16

MORE: Rules for the Rich: Money and Wealth and Unhappiness

“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”
–Matthew 19:23-24

2) Maybe the USA is more like a third-world country than the government/media will admit.

Perhaps all of the happy talk about the supposedly “robust economy,””4.9 unemployment,” record-breaking stock market and “Everyone who wants to work is working” is so much Soviet-style economic propaganda.

In other words: it’s all empty words by men who write such words easily.

“By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make a people see even… an extremely wretched life as paradise.”
Adolph Hitler

“He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.”
–Ecclesiastes 5:10

Is the reader depending upon money/wealth to enjoy life?

There’s still yet a little time to change direction (repent) and begin to lay up treasures in heaven.

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
–Matthew 6:19-21

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
2 Corinthians 4:3
