Self-Deception is the Worst Deception

12 BIBLE VERSES ABOUT SELF-DECEIT

Self-deception is the worst kind of deception.

One reason this is true: the person who is self-deceived will defend their deception if challenged. Also, the self-deceived will work to incorporate his deception into his everyday life.

God’s Word warns of self-deception: it is not a good thing. But even the heathen knew self-deception to be bad–and very common.

“Nothing is easier than self-deceit. For what each man wishes, that he also believes to be true.”

“It is self-love and its offspring self-deception, which shut the gates of heaven, and lead men, as if in a delicious dream, to hell.”
—Christian Scriver

Jesus Himself warned of the end times

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”
–Matthew 24:4

…and yet end times man is woefully, supremely and confidently deceived.

The Nature of Spiritual Deception

The following 12 Bible verses all have to do with some aspect of self-deception.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
–James 1:22

“Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked”

HOW would the reader be able to determine this?

THOUGH time grows short, there is still yet a little time left to change direction (repent) and call upon the name of the LORD.

Do not wait until it is too late.
