Is Jesus Restoring Families? What did Jesus Say?

JESUS: "I came not to bring peace, I came to bringa sword"
JESUS: “I came not to bring peace, I came to bring a sword”

“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.”
Matthew 10:34

Recently, someone was claiming that “Jesus came to restore families.” When asked where they had heard such a thing, they pointed to a popular TV preacher.

This writer: “Jesus was pretty clear he DIDN’T come to restore families.

The discussion then turned to whether Jesus was restoring communities and families across the world. This writer put forth that the members of families can indeed be restored IF all members become part of the body of Christ. And IF all members of a family are one through Jesus Christ, then that family would be restored.

“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”
–1 Peter 5:10

(Some new versions translate “make you perfect“” as “restore.”)

But is “restoring families” what Jesus said He would do? What did Jesus Himself have to say on the matter? What He said may surprise any readers who depend on either TV preachers or apostate churches for information.

“Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.”
Luke 12:51-53

“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.”
Matthew 10:34-36

” I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?”
Luke 12:49

Jesus came to divide by the truth.

The world and those in the world just want the whole wretched show to continue on with the least amount of turbulence. The apostate churches are more concerned with “peace and harmony and brotherhood and love” than the truth. Jesus is very divisive because, while the world deals in lies and falsehood, Jesus only spoke the truth.

Therefore, those who follow Jesus will find hatred from the world and those of it, not peace and love and brotherhood.

“If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
John 15:19

So, to the reader who wants to TRULY restore their family, share the gospel and pray for them. And don’t listen to TV preachers.

Do not be deceived: IF all members of a family are truly believers (a rare happening), THEN that family will be restored.

Otherwise, Jesus will bring division as the truth struggles against the lies of those still in the world. And as Jesus Christ Himself said, “And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.”

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
1 Corinthians 15:1-4

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:9-13
