Tales of the Demonic

Weird Tales of the Demonic

During a recent discussion with a friend, it was mentioned that a visitor had appeared one day at her workplace insisting that the visitor had a message from the friend’s late, long-departed husband.

The visitor (who did not request anything) then gave the friend information–some from the past, some from the immediate future–which was clearly surprising to the friend.  Mostly, it was surprising because the information was correct.  In some cases, the information was verified at a later date.

Upon hearing the account, it was remarked, “Very interesting.  Very surprising.  BUT though the information might be correct, everything is NOT as it was presented.”  Later, it was remarked once more that “the information was not as it had been presented.”

And there it stood–until the thought occurred later that there are a GREAT MANY tales told about the demonic. Many of these stories are told by those who know better–but they are told in order to deceive others.

Other stories are told by those who have heard such fables and, not knowing any better, repeat them.

Still others are told by the church folk, as these stories have been handed down through the years and have achieved the kind of treasured status that something old and traditional receives.

Sadly, the truth COULD be known by all IF a book which is no longer believed by the great majority of moderns was consulted.

But, in the times in which we live, few believe God’s Word–and so accordingly, many have to suffer from the lack of knowledge which occurs when men substitute the false fables of other men for the truth of the Word of God.

And so, we present five tales told about the demonic.

1- Those who claim to “talk to the dead” DO NOT talk to the dead.

Such persons communicate with  a familiar spirit (a kind of demon that the afflicted one believes serves him).  Many have maintained that such necromancers “told me information that only the dead person would know.

Familiar spirits (demons/evil spirits) know a great deal that is spoken aloud between two people.  The worldwide network of demons knows even more and will relay it to the spirit involved.

HOWEVER, the deceived claim that their necromancer is speaking to a dead loved one.

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD”
–Deuteronomy 18:10-12

“For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.”
–Ecclesiastes 9:5

“Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.”
–Leviticus 19:31

“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”
–Ecclesiastes 12:7

This same situation is repeated among fortune tellers, diviners, wizards, witches, astologers or any other who consults with a familiar spirit–regardless of what story that person may employ to disguise the source of their power/information. Such information is from illegitimate supernatural sources and is strictly forbidden by God’s Word.

2- Demons are NOT under the control of Satan.

Satan does NOT control the devils/demons/evil spirits of this world.

God does.

God controls devils/demons/evil spirits.

As the creator of all, this makes perfect sense.

It is also biblical, as ALL verses from the Old Testament concerning evil spirits affirm that evil spirits are sent FROM GOD.

“Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech: That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.”
–Judges 9:23-24

“But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him. And Saul’s servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee. Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.”
–1SAMUEL 16:14-16
Devils, Demons, Evil or Familiar Spirits: Ten Observations

Satan does NOT control devils/demons/evil spirits–though he will utilize their power whenever possible.

“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”
–Revelation 16:13-14
The Many Stories Told By Satan’s Storytellers to Stroke Satan’s Ego

3- A number of tales are told in order to explain the lack of God’s power in the churches.  Some of these tales lay the blame on the demonic.  Which, in some cases, is true–just not in the way it is presented to the congregations.

There are those in the churches who summon devils and familiar spirits (demons) to show up and imitate the Holy Ghost to impress the ignorant.

When various spirits (which those who run the churches pretend to be God’s Holy Spirit) put on shows for the congregation, the question those in attendance need to ask is “Is God glorified by this exhibition?

Wild dancing, twirling and yelling, as well as other displays, should easily supply the answer.

One question the congregations might pose: “IF God’s Holy Spirit is so present in the churches and so intent on putting on questionable displays of his presence, where is the power promised in the Word of God?”

Another question which might come to mind: “Why does our church not have the specific powers promised in God’s Word?

IF the congregation pays close attention, they will soon discover that those who control the churches spend a great deal of time explaining why their church is powerless.

3- Having a demon/evil spirit expelled is not the end-all for a non-believer.

There are those in the churches who present the solution to the problem of demonic torment as a “deliverance from the demonic” issue.

For the non-believer, this is not true.

As Jesus said

“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.”
–Matthew 12:43-45

A- If a demon is expelled from a man and that man does nothing further (such as being born again), then the spirit which was expelled will soon return.

B- Not only that, but the spirit will bring seven other spirits MORE WICKED than the original spirit which came out. And so, the man who did nothing to prevent the return of the unclean/evil spirit will have to contend with EIGHT demons rather than just ONE.

C- IF the man who had the spirit expelled continues in his wicked behaviors, then God will send a greater judgment on the man.  There must be a change in the behavior which prompted the evil spirit being sent by God in the first place.

4- A great many dramatic tales are told by those in the churches. One such tale is that demons will “defy” those who seek to expel them using the name of Jesus.

This is not biblical.

“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.”
–Luke 10:1-3

“And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.”
–Luke 10:17

There are some devils/demons/evil spirits which require more preparation than just casting out the entity in the name of Jesus.

“And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. “
–Mark 9:17-18

“And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.”
–Mark 9:28-29

5- There are a great number of dramatic tales told to the church folk about casting out demons.  A number of these stories revolve around and emphasize PROPS (such as Bibles, holy water, church rituals and crucifixes) while de-emphasizing the use of the name of Jesus.

This is not biblical.

AT ALL.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
