Separating from the World: A Few Observations

THE WORLD: And the things of this world.
THE WORLD: And the things of this world.

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
James 4:4

10 OBSERVATIONS FROM A FEW WHO HAVE OR WHO ARE SEPARATING FROM THE WORLD

Separating from the world is a must for anyone who is serious about preparing for the end times. But separating from the world can be very difficult. A few (hopefully helpful) observations from some recent discussions from a few who are or who have already separated from the world.

It is imperative for the believer to separate from the world and the things of this world. This is hard to do–especially living in America where the entire system is set up to prevent anyone from breaking free.

Recently, several acquaintances and friends have discussed separating from the world. What follows are some observations from those recent discussions among a few who are separating from, or who have separated from the world or who are pondering separating from the world.

1- Tares and those who are of the world are occupied with the things of the world. Hard as they try to do otherwise, they talk mostly about the things of the world, the world’s approval and their plans for success in the world.

“But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat,”
Matthew 13:25

The best they can do is to punctuate their worldly talk now and then with mentions of Jesus, God and/or Christianity. One way to tell those of the world is to listen to a person talk for a bit.

“Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.”
Proverbs 6:2

One can listen to the ones who are of this world talk, but only for so long. The urge to tell worldlings they are deceived becomes almost overwhelming after a few minutes.

2- Anyone who is exalted by the world is of the world. This includes so-called “men of God” whom the world has raised up.  No true man of God will be honored by the world because the world hates Jesus Christ and a true man of God loves Jesus Christ.

“If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
John 15:19

It makes no difference if one is talking about the Azusa Street preachers, the pope, Martin Luther, TV seed-planters, John Calvin, the smiling antichrist wolves in the pulpit or famed “Christian” signs and wonders faith healers: if the world in any way promotes or honors  a man, he cannot be from God.

“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.”
1 John 5:19

3- The world never ceases from trying to ensnare again anyone who has successfully broken free.

“Just when I thought I was out…they pull me back in.”
Michael Corleone, Godfather Part III

To this end of reclaiming someone who has escaped, the world will use all of the tricks and temptations at its disposal. All sin and the beginnings of sin originate in the world

  1. Music
  2. Food
  3. Entertainment
  4. Politics
  5. Sports
  6. Interesting and engaging people
  7. Apostate churches
  8. Other fleshly pleasures

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
1 John 2:16

The believer should be aware: the world will NEVER give up trying to entangle anyone who have escaped its grasp. Separating from the world is hard. Staying separate is harder still.

4- Once separated, the believer will then see the world for what it really is: rotten, corrupt, decaying, evil, lost and dying.

No amount of neon lights, new man-made structures or repaved roads can hide the decay. No matter how many new (mostly government) buildings go up, the stagnation and corruption are evident.

The seeing the world as it really is (for what it really is) helps to inoculate the believer from swallowing the lies of the world as it attempts to pull you back in.

5- Do not be deceived: the world wants back those former slaves who have broken free. It will start slow, with temptations of good food or good company or “a change of pace:” anything to get the former prisoner to start interacting with the world once more.

ALL attractions of the world are dangerous for this reason.

THE WORLD: Separating from the world is a must for anyone serious about end times preparation.
THE WORLD: Separating from the world is a must for anyone serious about end times preparation.

6- With every foray back into the world, the believer who has separated is aware that he is surrounded by the deceptions of the world and its prince, Satan.

7- Some may believe that it is impossible to break free from the world. Some emphasize that we live IN the world so it’s hard to not be OF the world.

While hard to break free, it can be done.  Many believe that they cannot survive if they separate from the world.

“How will I live?  How will I pay my bills?”

“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 6:31-33

God will make a way. The way may be narrow, difficult to walk and hard, but a way will be made.

8- For the believer, there can be no peace with the world.

None.

Ever.

The world hates true Christians. Always.

It might smile at you, but if you are a true Christian with the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ residing in you, the world will absolutely loathe you.

“Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.”
1 John 3:13

There is no compromise with the world for the believer. For the tare, the counterfeit, the pretend Christian, the world will compromise–for a little while. But for the true Christian, there can be no treaty with the world.

9- Every contact with the world has a numbing effect: the utter depravity of the world and the things of the world lose a little of the impact of their wickedness. The more often one is back among the world and its people, the less the believer feels like an alien when surrounded by the world.

10- Whenever one weakens, whether one is a hermit or surrounded on all sides by the world, sincere appeals to Jesus Christ for help and strength are ALWAYS helpful.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
Philippians 4:13

The apostate churches instruct the church-goers on how to compromise and live a good life while in this world. The Bible says to separate from the world and the things of this world.

Separating from the world is an absolutely necessary part of anyone who is serious about preparing for the end times.

“In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
