God’s Promises Are True: To Both Believers and Unbelievers

NEW JERUSALEM: The believer's eventual destination.
NEW JERUSALEM: The believer’s eventual destination.

“The voice of weeping shall be no more heard.”

Isaiah 65:19

The promises of God to believers are magnificent and many.

The promises of God concerning unbelievers are also many–though the unbelieving do not believe either set of promises.

“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:”
2 Thessalonians 1:8

Because they do not believe in a final judgment, they think they have somehow evaded the justice of God.  Because some have not been struck down dead in their tracks, they believe they are able to do as they please in this world with impunity.

Yes, they may have the things of this world: money, stuff and more stuff.

But are they happy?

Most would admit: no.

At best, they are merely passing the time in this life, moving from disappointment to disappointment; hoping that one of the days they have anticipated FINALLY lives up to its never-seem-to-be-fulfilled promises.

Still more unsettling for them: God reveals enough of Himself to keep them uneasy, though their hearts be hard as stone.

“according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
Romans 12:3

Regardless of what they insist; regardless of what they keep telling themselves, the creation of God testifies against their unbelief.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”
Psalm 19:1

God’s promises are true: both to believers and to unbelievers.

So, to believers: keep believing.

“He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.”
Isaiah 25:8

“For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”
Revelation 7:17

To unbelievers: perhaps it’s time to start looking at the alternatives to what you’ve been telling yourself?

There’s still time to change course: nothing is set in stone.

Except a sure judgment for unbelief.

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
