Only one more day left in June and the year is speeding right along. The 2016 elections are still several months into the future and the key word for the media SO FAR has been “presumptive“–as in major party nominees for president.
The Republicans kick off their convention in Cleveland in less than three weeks. The Democrats follow the next week. The timing for the conventions is fairly early, leaving plenty of time for campaigning before the November election.
For example, the 2008 Republican convention didn’t even begin until September.
TWO QUESTIONS: Will the “presumptive” seal the deal? OR will Americans see a July Surprise–or two?

BELIEF IS NOT ENOUGH
One of the most popular phrases which is used IF a discussion turns to Jesus Christ is “But I believe in Jesus!”
This has been a popular response for almost 2000 years.
“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”

What the person usually means is “I know OF Jesus. I’ve heard his name mentioned. I think he was a very good man.”
This is not enough.
Putting one’s faith in Jesus is the key to salvation. Trusting in Jesus alone to save is important. BELIEVING the gospel of Jesus Christ (that Jesus was the Son of God, died for our sins and was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures) and experiencing the transformed life is what saves a sinner.
Undergoing the transformed life lets the sinner KNOW he is saved.
Everything changes.
Everything is different.
Everything is now new.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
–2Corinthians 5:17
Unless a person exhibits the transformed life with the Holy Spirit taking up residence in a believer, he’s just putting on a show.
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.“
–Romans 8:9
Without the transformed life, there is no salvation.
“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”
–Revelation 21:5
So many among the clever counterfeits do not exhibit the transformed life. They are able to fool the lost and they are able to fool other counterfeits.
But they will never fool God.
MAKE NO MISTAKE: Belief in Jesus is a necessary starting point.
It is not the whole picture, however.

The world builds up and exalts mortal men so those men can then use their worldly authority to attack the Bible.

For some reason, almost all of the people who make the history books had a distaste for Christianity, the Bible and/or Jesus.
They say history is written by the victors; but in this case, it has been written by those temporarily in command. At some point, those writers will have to face the King of Kings.

CHEAP GRACE
One of the most prominent signs of the end times corrupted churches is their emphasis on cheap grace.
They have to preach cheap grace. The unbiblical concept not only challenges God’s Word, it’s something that attracts a big audience.
No matter what one does.
No matter whether one is saved.
No matter whether sin in confessed: God will ALWAYS love you.
You’re not a good Christian (but Jesus loves you)
Another gospel of the power of positive thinking grace.
No mention of confessing one’s sin to God.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

No talk of being a sinner in need of a Savior.
That would be cruel and unusual punishment.
There is no cheap grace. There is no salvation without placing one’s complete trust in the Savior, Jesus Christ.
No not be deceived. Do not settle for any substitutes.
