The end times have provoked biblical warnings for centuries; many of those warnings have to do with deception.
Regardless of what one thinks of the present times’ ubiquitous deception, one has to admit: deception plays NO favorites.
The workers of iniquity, the wicked men and the evil men–as well as those who who are lost and foolish (many times one and the same person)–are just as susceptible to deception as the ones they labor to deceive.
The workers of iniquity fall victim to deception AT LEAST as much as those they attempt to deceive. The Bible says that they not only are “deceiving,” they ALSO are “being deceived.”
However, one BIG difference between the deceived and those who do the deceiving but who are also deceived: the deceived masses are pretty much used to being lied to by those who control their lives. In a sense, they not only get used to being deceived, they have a good idea that they are being told lies at the present time. They may not know the particulars of the deception; they may not know all of its finer points: but they are so used to being told lies, they are not too surprised to learn of the latest batch.
Why do those who are lied to even listen to those they KNOW lie to them?
Chalk it up to the false hope generated by the adage, “Hope springs eternal.”
But, back to the workers of iniquity.
Though they labor continuously to deceive, they ALSO labor under the false hope generated by “Hope springs eternal.”
They KNOW they are deceiving others. In many cases, their whole life is devoted to deception.
They KNOW that those who call the shots are not to be trusted.
They KNOW that they are surrounded by lies and deception–just different ones than the public is told.
YET, the worker of iniquity STILL believe that he will be a “special case“: regardless of what happens to his fellows, HE will be the extra-special one who is told the truth.
HE will be the one to whom his superiors fulfill their promises.
A “special case.”
The worker of iniquity trusts those who he KNOWS cannot be trusted by others.
The worker of iniquity depends on the honor of those who he understands have little, if any.
And if anything, this should demonstrate that deception plays no favorites; deception is an equal opportunity affliction; deception does not care if the deceived is working for the right side of not.
It does not matter what level one is at: the worker of iniquity’s lot is to be deceived.
Perhaps, to be deceived MORE than those they labor to deceive.
And perhaps, the higher up one goes up the wicked food chain of iniquity, the MORE deceived the wicked are.
Not only are the workers of iniquity themselves deceived about the present circumstances, they are deceived about their future circumstance as well.
Deception plays no favorites.
Which is one reason the reader may have heard
“There is no honor among thieves.”
It applies to deceivers as well.
“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”

DOES the reader believe that he is told the truth?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
