December Is That Rare Month When TWO Pagan Occasions are Celebrated

PAGAN

IF one asks the ordinary American “What is December known for?”, chances are that “Christmas” would be one of the answers near the top.

OF COURSE, Christmas was NOT the time of the birth of Jesus, but it is the day the world celebrates that occasion.

Christmas: A Pagan Holiday…BUT

Christmas 2020: Seven Observations

BUT, December is also the occasion when, not ONE but TWO, pagan holidays take place.

First, there is the season of YULE–which is where a LOT of Christmas ‘traditions’ originated.

Yule (also called Jul, jól or joulu) is a festival historically observed by the Germanic peoples. Scholars have connected the original celebrations of Yule to the Wild Hunt, the god Odin, and the pagan Anglo-Saxon Mōdraniht (“Mothers’ Night”).

Some present-day Christmas customs and traditions such as the Yule logYule goatYule boarYule singing, and others may have connections to older pagan Yule traditions. Cognates to Yule are still used in English, the Scandinavian languages as well as in Finnish and Estonian to describe Christmas and other festivals occurring during the winter holiday season.

So, the pagan YULE season is held during December–regardless of the GALLONS of sugary media spin which thoroughly drench the time and try to convert it into something it is not.

THEN, there is the WINTER SOLSTICE, which is a day celebrated by pagans the world over.

Although there is NOT a lot mentioned about the pagan origin of the winter solstice, it is one of the GRAND PAGAN holidays which are on some pagan Wheel of the Year diagrams.

PAGAN YEAR

The Winter Solstice is also marked at pagan hotspots the world over, particularly Stonehenge in the United Kingdom.

And NO celebration of the Winter Solstice would be complete without the obligatory media photos and videos of Stonehenge.

SO THEN, December is that rarest of months: a time when not ONE but TWO pagan celebrations are marked: the Winter Solstice and the Season of YULE.

So, IF the reader is thinking that there is NOT much to do in December but eat, sleep and shop, then perhaps the reader needs to refer to some pagan literature?

HAS the reader ever really celebrated the Winter Solstice?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
