Christmas: A Pagan Holiday…BUT

Santa Claus

After all, Christmas Day IS the one day the world pretends to honor Jesus Christ.  When even the most committed pagan or antichrist believer may soften his heart, think a good thought about his fellow man and perhaps contemplate the idea–if not the actuality–of Jesus Christ for a moment.
Christmas 2018

Yes, Christmas is built upon the very sturdy foundations of (several) very well-known pagan celebrations.

Yes, for YEARS, the most renown aspects of Christmas were those pagan ones which were relentlessly promoted by the society and culture (Christmas trees,  caroling, exchanging gifts, Santa Claus and his elves, decorating both indoors and outdoors).

Yes, for a great many, the “reason for the season”  was crossing off that LAST NAME from one’s gift list–and NOT Jesus Christ.

HOWEVER, as recent events have demonstrated (events such as the current cultural obsession with witchcraft, heathen gods and rituals, other interfaces between man and familiar spirit), those former times–even though they were mostly pagan in origin and design–AT LEAST offered a few moments here and there for reflection:

Such as a few moments on Christmas Eve;

Perhaps a few moments after reuniting with a favorite member of one’s family;

OR, a few moments after the hustle, bustle and frenzy of gift-buying, gift wrapping and gift giving are done.

At least then, those few moments may have concentrated on Jesus Christ and the claimed season which supposedly honored the Son of God.

Even though Christmas was supposedly a time of focusing on Jesus Christ, it became anything but that.

BUT AT LEAST it was a day that the world PRETENDED to focus on Jesus Christ.

However, for a few moments each season–which ran about six-eight weeks–the odd person MAY have put aside the pagan celebrations and quietly reflected on Jesus Christ.

Maybe.

NOW, even the pretense of that reflection appears to have fallen into disrepair.

From the many hours of the Christmas season, how much time does the reader devote to Jesus Christ?  (And if the reader even THINKS ABOUT Jesus Christ, he can claim credit it for it.)

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
