Witchcraft: Season of the Witch

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD”
–Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Though the information contained in Deuteronomy 18:10-12 is perhaps the best-known, it is NOT the only warning to man in God’s Word about witches and other who have familiar spirits.

Even Saul, the king of Israel, was not exempt from this warning.

“Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.”
–1SAMUEL 28:7-10

Saul ended up paying the ultimate price (the next day) for consulting the witch at Endor.

IN FACT, ‘having a familiar spirit’ was once considered a capital crime.

” A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.”
–Leviticus 20:27

“Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.”
–Exodus 22:18

The reader should contrast these words of warning (and they are UNCHANGING throughout God’s Word) with the world’s light-hearted approach to witchcraft and its practitioners. This is the world’s way of saying “Hey!  Witchcraft isn’t so bad!  What are you afraid of?  Sounds like you are a religious nut!”

IF the reader has a few moments and an Internet connection, he can find HUNDREDS more similar stories in the media.  Especially media directed at children and young adults.

The world uses ALL of its many outlets to promote witchcraft and all things witchy.  Science (Why are all of the science-related websites covering so many witch-based stories?), education (which has told youngsters that witchcraft is nothing more than a lark.), entertainment (Witches are now the ‘heroes’ of much literature aimed at young people–as well as the ‘stars’ of TV and movies.), as well as the media, ALL chip in to help promote modern witchcraft and those with familiar spirits.

The Harry Potter books and movies helped turn a WIZARD from something to beware of to a hero for those who follow such stories.

ONCE, those involved with WITCHCRAFT and FAMILIAR SPIRITS were guilty of a capital crime and the punishment was death.

NOW, to moderns,  those involved with WITCHCRAFT are guilty of little more than being the target of those intent on persecuting the poor witches.

The world–and Satan (the prince of this world)–have an interest during the end times in normalizing witches and witchcraft.

Can the reader figure out what that interest might be?

HAS the reader noticed the change in tone used for stories of witchcraft in the Corporate Media?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

DOES the reader believe he is saved?
