“…And by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
–Proverbs 16:6
Having a healthy fear of the LORD is not only an advantage, it is a NECESSITY for the Christian.
The Time of Our Sojourning Here, part 4
It is said we are all born with two primary fears. Every one of us is born with the fear of falling, and the fear of loud noises. Every other fear we must learn through experience, we must learn through education, and we must learn through practice.
‘No Fear’ might be a great tag line for a t-shirt, but there are some thing we ought to fear, and rightly so. I fear getting electrocuted, so I don’t go around licking live wires. I fear being mauled to death, so I don’t go around slapping grizzly bears across the snout. I fear God, knowing He is just and holy, so I do my utmost to be what He expects me to be which is nothing less than holy.
This is a superb piece.
Readers may want to save the following paragraph: it summarizes one of the choices for the end times which those who inhabit the churches will have to make.
When we fear God, there is no fear of man to be had. When we fear men, then there is no fear of God to be had. You cannot fear man and God equally, and as such you must choose to fear one or the other.
God with Fear is not God – Most modern pew-sitters worship a god who is their buddy.
Because they do not worship God Almighty of the Bible, inhabitants of the modern churches cannot reverence or respect a god who is beyond their powers of thought. Such thinking is foreign to them.
Which is one reason the concept of “…And by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.” [Proverbs 16:6] is foreign to them.
“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.”
–Proverbs 14:27
The enemy has deceived (and will continue to deceive) many into believing no such choices (between fear of God vs fear of man) will have to be made.
IF pew-sitters believe that no such choices will have to be made, then no preparations for making those choices will be undertaken. This lack of preparation guarantees the triumph of the flesh over the spirit.
Believers lose their fear of man when they have a fear of the LORD.
The fear of God involves a FEAR of God: not an awe or reverence (though neither of those feelings are bad ones of themselves). The mystery of iniquity has done its level best to “humanize” God and bring the Creator down to the level of the created.
This involves men losing their fear of the LORD.
God Almighty is a power beyond the scope of normal human intelligence or reason.
The fear of the LORD involves a healthy dose of fear.
Anyone who says differently is leading the reader astray.
“And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”
–Luke 12:4-5
Is the reader afraid of the LORD?
Or has the reader drifted into the deception of the fear of men?
There is yet still time to change direction (repent) and be saved.
Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
—2 Corinthians 4:3
