Save Money: Buy a Weather Rope!

THOUGHTS sometimes take long, strange trips before they get where they ultimately are going.

For instance, while looking at the following piece, a dollar figure caught the attention.

Missouri to install more soil moisture monitors for drought, flooding

Each sensor costs approximately $400, he said, meaning each site costs about $2,000.

That would bring the total cost for sensors at the sites to approximately $30,000, not including installation costs.

Weather sensors for $400 each, huh?

THAT brought back a memory of a time when junior high students were required BY THEIR SCIENCE TEACHERS to keep daily journals (for four-six months)  of the local weather.

It was during that early-teen ordeal of keeping a daily weather journal that one group of students discussed installing a WEATHER ROPE to assist them in their endeavors.

A weather rope was a piece of rope hung outside one’s window.

IF the rope was wet, it was raining.

IF the rope was moving, it was windy.

IF the rope was white, it was snowing.

IF the rope was stiff, it was cold.

IF the rope could not be seen, it was foggy.

THAT long-ago memory led to a quick Internet search, which determined that quite a number of establishments currently sell SIGNS for weather ropes. During this search, it was noted that the signs for sale were MUCH more expensive than the original weather rope.  That was one of the BIG ADVANTAGES of a weather rope: it was cheap.

So cheap, even a junior high kid could afford it.

THEN the thought circled back to those Missouri moisture sensors at $400 a pop.

The FINAL thought was, “Missouri could save a lot of money if they just bought some weather ropes.”

THOUGHTS sometimes take long, strange trips.

And like a train conductor from years gone by, the mind punches the ticket of the thought at each stop along the way, before sending that thought on to its final destination.

Has the reader ever considered investing in a weather rope?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
