“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

Since its inception, one of the idols to which Americans have always bowed the lowest was the one called “PROGRESS!”
And not just any old PROGRESS!
The Americanized version of PROGRESS! usually meant going FASTER; doing things QUICKER and MORE EFFICIENTLY; making more MONEY!–and what could be more American than making more money?

Americans–who put such faith in money and the things money could buy– always kept on eye on the future. Because the future meant PROGRESS! and PROGRESS! meant more money.
And so, the question the reader needs to ask himself:
Do you consider the past ten years as progress?
“Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up; To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.”
–Jeremiah 18:15-16

DOES the reader look to the future for more and better things for his life?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
