Satan’s Home Field Advantage, Revisited

home field

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”
–Matthew 19:26

A few weeks ago, we discussed whether or not Satan–as the prince of this world–held a ‘home field advantage’ over God.

So, at first glance, it may appear that the devil enjoys ‘home field advantage’ in any confrontations on earth-–and wars and many a battle have been won because one side was well-acquainted with the terrain on which the engagement was fought.

Does this mean Satan enjoys a “home field advantage” whenever he confronts the LORD on earth?
Does Satan Enjoy a Home-Field Advantage Over God?

Our conclusion was that Satan is NO match for the one who, not only created the devil, but also created the earth and all that is in it.

HOWEVER, several comments over the past two weeks have left the impression that that point was not stressed OR made clear enough for some readers.

“You never hear someone say ‘God made me do it.  It’s always ‘The devil made me do it.’  How do you explain that?”

While NO ONE came out and plainly said the devil (Satan, the dragon, the serpent) was stronger than–or even AS strong as–God, various backhanded remarks made it clear that the article (Does Satan Enjoy a Home-Field Advantage Over God?) did not convince everyone that God is exponentially many, many, many, MANY times stronger than Satan, whom God created.

“The way I see it, God’s not doing too well lately.”

So, to make that point clear, a few more points are offered in God’s favor–AS IF He needed them.

1- First, God’s Word–which is true–states unequivocally that God is the most powerful being EVER.

“Is there anything too hard for the LORD?”
–Genesis 18:14

“And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved? And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
–Luke 18:24-27

“Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee”
–Jeremiah 32:17

“For with God, nothing shall be impossible.”
–Luke 1:37

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
–Colossians 1:16-17

Against all that God’s Word offers, the dragon (Satan) and his followers can only offer the weak, “Consider the source.”–while quickly changing the subject.

2- OF COURSE, Satan will ALWAYS agree with those deceived souls who believe him to possess much more power than he has.

The devil is ALWAYS trying to claim that which is NOT his.

“And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.  And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
–Luke 4:5-8

There are a NUMBER of folks who point to these verses in Luke (or their corresponding ones in Matthew 4:8-10) as PROOF that Satan is the ‘god of this world.’

The proof?

Because Jesus did not argue the point with Satan, it MUST be true.

HOWEVER, Jesus made the point that there is NO truth in Satan: NONE whatsoever.

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
–John 8:44

So, Jesus knew what Satan was about–even if more benighted folks do not.

IF Satan struggled mightily against God, when He took human form as Jesus, one can easily image that Satan is NO match for God in the Power Department, no matter WHERE that match might be held.

3- And finally, it does not matter WHO is opposing God or where the action takes place (God created EVERYTHING).

When one is squaring off against the Creator of all things, one NEVER has a ‘home field advantage.’

DOES the reader believe that the devil enjoys his power at the pleasure of His Creator?

OR, does the reader only see that it appears that Satan has grown very powerful in these last days?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
