PRAYER: Talk to the Father

WATCH AND PRAY ALWAYS
PRAY ALWAYS

“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”
–Matthew 6:6

Prayer is talking with the father.

It’s like a nice one-on-one chat with someone important in your life.

Prayer is not standing in a circle with others shouting to the heavens.

“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.”
–Matthew 6:5

Already-composed prayers are not bad IF the person praying is honestly saying the same things from the heart that are written in the ready-made prayer.

That may be a rare thing.

But the best prayers are heart-felt confession to the Father: what’s bothering the person praying; concerns; reminders; requests for advice, wisdom and knowledge.

God the Father wants the supplicant to put Him in remembrance of His Word.

“Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.”
–Isaiah 43:26

This is not because God does not remember His Word: He is omniscient–He knows everything.  It is a command to the believer and the believer is to be obedient.

Some people have been taught from an early age to repeat endless canned prayers.

Jesus said not to do that.

“But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”
–Matthew 6:7

God the Father knows all things–including what’s on the mind of the person praying.

“Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.”
–Matthew 6:8

ALL relationships are built on good communication.

And that includes communication with the Father.

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
2 Corinthians 4:3
