Man will never tire of questioning authority, particularly the authority of God Word.
IF man chose to believe God’s Word, he would know God’s purpose for man, the earth and the place of man (and evil spirits) in such a world.
“And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:”
God’s express purpose in creating man and the world in which man lives: to find for himself a people to whom He can be their God.
To that end, God created man, created the earth, gave man the ability to either accept OR reject God, surrounded man with a number of choices which were attractive but contrary to God, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for man’s possible salvation and gave man a span of years in which to make a decision either for or against God and Jesus Christ.
As such, this present life is little more than a probationary period; a test: a time to determine where each person will spend the rest of eternity.
WHY did God go to all of this trouble?
In order to find a relatively few people who will freely choose Him over the blandishments of the world (money, power, knowledge, lusts, control, recognition, honors) in which they live.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
On the one hand are the things of the world: attractive, immediate and experienced by the senses. On the other hand is the Word of God: warning man what is good and what is evil. The good is usually deferred to the next life; the evil, can be immediately experienced NOW–though it will have judgments and penalties (health, stress, etc.) attached.
Man makes his choice and God will pass judgment on whether each person desires God or something else that is not God.
The end times will make the choice between God and everything that is NOT GOD stark and clear. No one will have any excuse for why they chose that which opposes God.
To help those few who make the choice for God, God sends His Holy Spirit to indwell each believer.
“as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
—2 Corinthians 6:16
So God’s overriding purpose is to find a people who will freely and sincerely worship Him as their God.
“For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.”
So where does the the demonic (demons, evil spirits, unclear spirits, familiar spriits) fit into God’s plan? After all, such spirits come from God Himself.
Utilizing the demonic is a shortcut which attempts to bypass God.
Accessing demonic power is another temptation offered by this world.
Those who access illegitimate supernatural power use it for selfish purposes; for their own ends. It is both an attraction and a snare.
And accessing such power comes with its own particular judgments and penalties.
Demonic power is merely another bad choice which is NOT GOD.
And the judgment for using such power is particularly fitting: because the user is deceived and believes this power to be a great benefit, he is very reluctant to give it up. Therefore, the very thing that is destroying him is the very thing he will, in his deceived state, most cling to.
God is looking for a people.
This people must value what they cannot see (faith) over this present world.
Such a people must be willing to undergo persecution and tribulation in this present world in exchange for an eternity of bliss.
“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
“Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”
DOES the reader trifle with illegitimate supernatural power?
THERE is still time to change direction (repent) and place one’s trust in Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
