Reflections on a THANKSGIVING DAY Eve

Thanksgiving

It is the day before Thanksgiving–and a time for a few thoughts about the day set aside for the giving of thanks.

Thanksgiving Day has always been such a simple, wholesome holiday.

Which is why so many alternatives to the day have been created by the world:

  1. First, the focus on food, friends, football and family INSTEAD giving thanks;
  2. Then, for the past 20 years or so, the madcap Black Friday foolishness;
  3. AND THEN–over the past year or so–the buffoonish fakery that is Friendsgiving.

RELATED: Are Millennials set to kill Black Friday too? – One doesn’t have to be born in a particular time period to abhor the over-the-top celebration of greed, covetousness and material objects which was COMPLETELY manufactured to rival the few good feelings which still took place on Thanksgiving.

And so, the same folks who created Black Friday as a counterpoint to Thanksgiving have manufactured one more rival day: Friendsgiving–a not too subtle attack on the traditional family get-togethers at Thanksgiving (“Family” having been the butt of Thanksgiving “jokes” over the past few decades by the propagandameisters who front the late night talk shows.)

Setting aside a day for giving thanks–particularly in a family setting–was such a good activity to focus on.

Which is why it must be overtaken–and then killed.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! {in their own sight”
–Isaiah 5:20-21

HAS the reader noticed the world’s chipping away at the notion of devoting a day to giving thanks?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
