A MACRO God on a MICRO Level

Most people have little problem visualizing God operating on a large (MACRO) scale; i.e. on a level where He deals with nations, kings, armies or whole civilizations.

Even the heathen see God as larger-than-life: juggling lighting  bolts, causing earthquakes; smiting the earth with disease and plagues.

Most men appear to see God as a MACRO God: huge, imposing and wielding great and terrible power.

Which He is and does.

SO, it is little wonder that many might have problems imaging God working–as He so often does–on a MICRO level: one-on-one, personal, unique; employing His unlimited power to aid and assist a single person, in what most refer to as a “miracle.”

Often, even the person who benefited from such a miracle has a hard time giving proper credit to God.  There is something which compels the average person to search for a reason BEYOND GOD for the cause of the miraculous.

The human mind cannot rest when presented with something beyond its normal experience.  It will turn over EVERY mental rock–and then go back and turn them over again in its quest for “answers” which agree with the person’s prior experience OR the person’s preconceived notions.

Perhaps most subconsciously know how the world treats those who claim to be beneficiaries of a miracle from God?

The world is quick to label ANYONE who considers a miracle from God to have taken place.

MOST of those labels are derogatory.

A few examples are “primitive,” “simple-minded” or even “stupid.”

It seems the world also considers God–even those of the world who claim they do not believe in God–operating on a MACRO (sweeping, worldwide, cosmic), rather than a MICRO (one-on-one) level.

One bit of evidence of this is that there are many worldly men who still refer to storms, earthquakes and tornadoes as an “act of God.” IN FACT, in much of the English-speaking world, an act of God is ingrained in the legal system.

In legal usage throughout the English-speaking world, an act of God[1] is a natural hazard outside human control, such as an earthquake or tsunami, for which no person can be held responsible.

Yet, many who still use the term “act of God‘ in a legal sense fail miserably to comprehend when the act of God strikes closer to home, involves a single individual and DOES NOT refer to a disaster.

Man’s–particularly MODERN man’s–inability to grasp God’s desire to show Himself on a personal level could be considered a modern “failure of imagination.”

What else to call man’s refusal to attribute the things of God to God Himself?

And to all who believe that God only works on a sweeping MACRO level: what is a nation or kingdom or civilization but a collection of many individual men?

God DOES work on an individualized, personal, MICRO level.

OF COURSE, it is much easier for the reader to believe IF the reader has experienced God on this level.

OR, if the reader knows to attribute the power of God to GOD–instead of to “fate, chance or unexplained mysteries.”

HAS the reader ever experienced something that he cannot rationally explain?

HAS the reader ever considered that the power of God is at work in the world EVERY DAY?

Particularly among those who do not believe.

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
