Twelve Quotes About Sorcery

sorcery

Whether it is called witchcraft, sorcery or wizardry (or any of the other dozens of associated words), the consulting of a familiar spirit (evil/unclean spirits/demons) is strictly forbidden by the Bible.

The lost may claim that God’s Word forbids consulting with familiar spirits because by doing so, one becomes powerful like God.

This is one of the two lies that the serpent told Eve in the garden.

“…and ye shall be as gods”
–Genesis 3:5

This lie has worked from the beginning because man is vain and wants to believe he is a god.

IF a WOMAN consults with an evil spirit, then it is usually labeled WITCHCRAFT, which seeks advantage by MANIPULATION.

IF a MAN consults with a familiar spirit, then he is usually called a SORCERER or a WIZARD, and seeks advantage by INTIMIDATION.

Both men and women who consult with familiar spirits seek to confuse and deceive the public about their relationship with an unclean spirit.  Words like “magic” and “spells” and “hex” are used AND at no time will the practitioner EVER be honest about the source of their “power.

TWELVE QUOTES ABOUT SORCERY (PLUS ONE BONUS QUOTE)

“To deny the possibility, nay, the actual existence of witchcraft and sorcery, is at once flatly to contradict the revealed word of God in various passages both of the Old and New Testament, and the thing itself is a Truth to which every nation in the world hath, in its turn, borne testimony, by either example seemingly well attested or by prohibitory laws, which at least suppose the possibility of a commerce with evil spirits.”
William Blackstone

“Since man cannot live without miracles, he will provide himself with miracles of his own making. He will believe in witchcraft and sorcery, even though he may otherwise be a heretic, an atheist, and a rebel.”
Fyodor Dostoevsky

“The world is magic. Science is but an insipid style of sorcery.”
Rudy Rucker

“Underneath all civilization, ancient or modern, moved and still moves a sea of magic, superstition, and sorcery. Perhaps they will remain when the works of our reason have passed away.”
Will Durant

“He who confesses magic or sorcery shall do penance for the time of murder, and shall be treated in the same manner as he who convicts himself of this sin.”
Basil_of_Caesarea (Saint Basil)

“And no nation or tribe to my knowledge has not acknowledged that there are many invisible beings, and that they divide into good spirits and evil spirits, according to how they benefit man.”

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard [sorcerer], or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD”
–Deuteronomy 18:10-12

“Where lies the line between sorcery and science? It is only a matter of terminology, my friend.”
Alan Dean Foster

“If the world is a game whose rules are written by the God, and sorcerers are those who cheat and cheat, then who has written the rules of sorcery?”
R. Scott Bakker

“SORCERY, n. The ancient prototype and forerunner of political influence. It was, however, deemed less respectable and sometimes was punished by torture and death.”
Ambrose Bierce

“Sorcery: the systematic cultivation of enhanced consciousness or non-ordinary awareness & its deployment in the world of deeds & objects to bring about desired results.”
Hakim Bey

“Sorcery breaks no law of nature because there is no Natural Law, only the spontaneity of natura naturans, the tao. Sorcery violates laws which seek to chain this flow– priests, kings, hierophants, mystics, scientists & shopkeepers all brand the sorcerer enemy for threatening the power of their charade, the tensile strength of their illusory web.”
Hakim Bey

BONUS QUOTE

“Certain individual words do possess more pitch, more radiance, more shazam! than others, but it’s the way words are juxtaposed with other words in a phrase or sentence that can create magic. Perhaps literally. The word “grammar,” like its sister word “glamour,” is actually derived from an old Scottish word that meant “sorcery.” When we were made to diagram sentences in high school, we were unwittingly being instructed in syntax sorcery, in wizardry. We were all enrolled at Hogwarts. Who knew?”
Tom Robbins

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
