Making the Mistake of Comparing Man’s Short Life to the Eternal Existence of God

ETERNAL

Man is a creature which has a relatively SHORT life span.

It is NOT as short as a fruit fly, which counts its lifespan in HOURS.

BUT, a man will have been said to have lived a “long life” IF that man reaches 100-years-old.

Compare that with the UNENDING EXISTENCE of God, who always was and will always be.

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
–Revelation 1:8

“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.”
–Psalm 90:2

The human head does not take kindly to mentions of “Eternity” or “eternal.”

Man might CLAIM to understand the idea of ‘eternity,’ but there are plenty of indications that he does NOT understand at all.

One of the places man demonstrates his ignorance of ‘eternity’ is when a man compares 200 years (which is a LONG time for a man) to God (who is eternal in nature).

Someone who TRIES to understand this difficulty, does not understand why other men cannot also see the HUGE difference between man’s relatively-short life span and an eternal God who always was.

OF COURSE, IF the man is an unbeliever, he will scorn whatever is said in God’s Word–including denying that God even exists.

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.”
–Psalm 14:1

The apostle Peter touched upon this subject of the time of man VS God very briefly in his 2nd Epistle.

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
–2PETER 3:8

Which sums up the situation nicely: a thousand years is a long, long, LONG time for a man; for God?

It is like only a day.

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
