Messianic Jews: The Deception Raise More Questions than Are Answered

QUESTIONS

QUESTIONS, QUESTIONS:

1-What would you call a group who insists that they are believers in Jesus as savior, but deny that He is divine?

2-What would you call a group, some of whom don’t recognize Jesus as co-equal with the Father?

3-What would you call a group, many of whom view sources outside of the Bible as valid as Scripture?

4-What would you call a group who adhere to the Mosaic Law and consider it “to remain fully in force and a holy covenant, to be observed both morally and ritually, by those who profess faith in God.”

Would you call such a group a “cult“?

Perhaps.

Would you call such a group “Christian?”

No.  How could you?

What to call such a group then?

Messianic Jews.

Many church-goers consider Messianic Jews to be “brothers and sisters in Christ.”

But are they?

Messianic Jews do not believe in a Trinity or that Jesus is co-equal with the Father.  That’s pretty basic to being a “brother (or sister) in Christ” is it not?

Can one be both a follower of Christ and a keeper of the Law?

James is explicit.

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
–James 2:10

If one is to keep the Law, then one must meet all of its requirements–which requires perfect obedience.

Paul is clear as well.

“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.”
—Galatians 5:4

“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”
—Romans 10:4

“I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”
—Galatians 2:21

“Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.”
—Romans 7:4

“But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”
—Roman 7:6

“But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.”
—1 Timothy 1:8-11

In fact, the Bible is clear those who say they are under the Old Covenant (the law) are cursed if they do not obey EVERY point of the law–which is EVERYONE, as NO man can keep the law.

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.”
—Galatians 3:10

“Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.”
–Deuteronomy 27:26

“And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant”
–Jeremiah 11:3

Can a man be saved through belief in Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation and at the same time be cursed?

The early church had the same problem: those who were confused about keeping the law rather than trusting in salvation through Christ.

“Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:”
—Acts 15:24

Once again, if Messianic Jews believed the whole gospel of Jesus Christ, they would be Christians–not Messianic Jews.

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
—Galatians 3:28

RE: Messianic Jews; Circumcision and Communion.

“Messianic Jews hold that male believers must be circumcised, since it is a part of keeping the Covenant.”

“The Messianic worship service does not include communion or the Lord’s Supper”

Messianic Jews maintain they are under the Old Covenant.

Jesus Christ brought a better Covenant.

“But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.”
–Hebrews 6:6-7

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:  But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
–Jeremiah 31:31-33

Believers are to pray for the salvation of Messianic Jews.

Believers are also to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to Messianic Jews.

The simplicity of the gospel–the whole gospel–of Jesus Christ should be preached to Messianic Jews.

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
—John 8:36

There are number of groups who claim to be followers of Jesus Christ.

HOWEVER, when one looks closely at what they believe, one discovers this is simply not true.

IF Messianic Jews were Christians, there would be NO need for the term “Messianic Jews” and NO need for the rituals and practices which reflect the Old Covenant.

“In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.”
–Hebrews 8:13

There is only one body of Christ.

“But now are they many members, yet but one body. That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.”
–1CORINTHIANS 12:20,25

The devil has been trying to split that one body into pieces since Jesus Christ walked the earth.

“Messianic Jew” is a label meant to deceive.

Not the least being any who believes they can be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and yet still be cursed.

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree”
–Galatians 3:13

One either believes God’s Word OR the assertions of a deceiver–no matter how seemingly friendly or well-intentioned.

DOES the reader believe there are really such a thing as a “Messianic Jew“?

DOES the reader know of any such claimants?

DOES the reader believe God’s Word or the “Messianic Jew“?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

DOES the reader believe he is saved?
