Words of Warning

warning

There are a number of words which are used to WARN men of pitfalls or other dangers.

Among these words are

  1. WARNING
  2. CAUTION
  3. DANGER
  4. NOTICE!
  5. ALERT!
  6. ATTENTION!
  7. ACHTUNG!

In addition, God’s Word uses several words to warn men away from various activities, behaviors and/or events.

Among those words used to warn or alert men are

1- BEWARE

“Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing”
–Judges 13:4

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”
–Matthew 7:15

2- TAKE HEED

“Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.”
–Deuteronomy 4L23

“Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.”
–Matthew 16:6

3- DANGER

“Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation”
–Mark 3:29

4- WARNING

“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.”
–Ezekiel 3:17

5- BEHOLD!

“And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.”
–Exodus 4:23

“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”
–Matthew 10:16

So, there are number of these “words of warning” used in both God’s Word and by men to alert others of lurking dangers.

HOWEVER, some men completely ignore words of warning. (Perhaps the reader knows of such people?)

But this is not just a modern happening: there have ALWAYS been men who ignored words of warning.

In the second chapter of Ezekiel, God tells the prophet Ezekiel to warn the Israelites of their dangerous behaviors.  But God tells Ezekiel that the words of warning may fall on deaf ears.

God then tells Ezekiel to warn those men anyway.

“And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me. And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day. For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.

“And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them. And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.

“But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.”
–Ezekiel 2:1-8

This account continues into Ezekiel’s third chapter.

“And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel; Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

“But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

“Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears. And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.”
–Ezekiel 3:4-11

A great many men down through the ages (and continuing to our present time) have ignored those who tried to warn them of danger.

It is usual with such foolish men that they will mock, scorn and attack any who attempt to warn them of danger.

SO, it does not matter what words are used (even if the most frightening words of warning are employed), there are still those who will not hear.

IS the reader a person who pays attention to words of warning?

IF so, then is the reader paying attention to the words of warning in God’s Word?

IF the reader is ignoring the words of warning from the Bible, then why is the reader doing this?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
