“And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.”
–Revelation 9:20-21
One of the most unbelievable parts of the Bible for a young heathen to grasp was the Book of Revelation.
Here was the account of end times man receiving the judgment and wrath of God and yet–with destruction raining down on all sides–end times man REFUSED to repent and avoid the wrath of God.
At the time, it was unbelievable: man would go to his death–in some cases, cursing at God as he died–rather than change his ways.
The account challenged the young man’s credulity.
However, the young man did not know how ingrained was the hatred of God by end times man.
The young man did not know how men who kept God on their lips had been taught from an early age to loathe the Almighty.
The young man did not know of the carefully-nurtured contempt of the LORD, which was passed like a torch from one generation of non-believers to another.
Though the young man was heathen, he was ignorant of all this.
HOWEVER, this contempt and hatred is part of the account of the interaction between God and man in the end times.
In Revelation 9:20-21, end times man–even after seeing other men die in the judgments of God–refuses to repent and turn from his idols, his fornication, his murder, his sorceries, his theft.
Decades earlier, the prophet Jeremiah described this stubbornness perfectly.
“O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return. Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God. I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.”
–Jeremiah 5:3-5
Psalm 2 confirms Jeremiah, specifically referring to the end times.
“The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.”
–Psalm 2:2-3
LATER, in Revelation 16, man (on three separate occasions during the final judgments of God) not only does man NOT repent, he blasphemes God.
“And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.”
–Revelation 16:9
“And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.”
–Revelation 16:11
“And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.”
–Revelation 16:21
That end times man would curse God rather than submit to his Creator is not the act of a rational man.
A thinking, rational man, seeing that what he has been taught is a lie, would change his ways and avoid destruction.
Again,these are NOT the actions of a rational man.
These are the actions of deceived men who have been taught to hate God.
And such actions are still hard to believe for a man who is no longer young.

HAS the reader been taught from an early age the myths and legends of unbelief?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
