Jesus’ Last Conversation With the Tares

THE TRUE CHURCH: The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

MOST of the time, a conversation with a committed non-believer will prove frustrating.

SOME of the time, a conversation with a committed non-believer can provide interesting insight.

OCCASIONALLY, a conversation with a committed non-believer can cause the believer to make a new discovery.

And so it was, not so long ago, when speculation of what Jesus would say to the pretenders (the tares) who have spent their lives acting–either knowingly or otherwise–as though they are Christians TURNED OUT TO BE NON-SPECULATIVE.

During the discussion (which was really a sort of monologue by the one who raised the topic), the light of revelation struck and it was discovered that God’s Word records what Jesus will say to the pretenders.

NO speculation was necessary.

There are SEVERAL different places in the Bible where Jesus gives an account of that last conversation.

Twice in Matthew, once in Luke, Jesus declared what that conversation will be.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

–Matthew 7:21-23

“Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

“While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

“And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

“Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”

–Matthew 25:1-13

“Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.”

–Luke 13:24-28

And so, God’s Word ALREADY records what Jesus will say during that last conversation with all of those who–knowingly or not–talked the talk of being a follower of Jesus.

OCCASIONALLY, a conversation with a committed non-believer can cause the believer to make a new discovery.

And for this the believer gives thanks to God.

DOES the reader ever wonder about the conversation he will have with Jesus?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
