Jews and Christians

Jew, Christian

Such a matter seems so simple that it would be the easiest thing to address.

And yet…

There is one main difference between Jews and Christians–though millions of words have sought to confuse the issue.

Yes, there is ONE main difference between Jews and Christians and NOTHING can blur that difference.

The difference?

Christians believe that Jesus Christ was the Messiah and gave his life as a sacrifice to open a way into heaven for repentant man.

Jews believe that Jesus Christ was NOT the Messiah. So, Jews are still waiting for the Messiah to appear.

The Bible says that the man of sin will show up right before Jesus Christ returns to both deceive and and to lead those deceived people into destruction and hard times.

As a very good Jewish friend (when this writer was still a heathen) put it years ago: “We think the Old Testament is the Bible.  We think the New Testament is a fairy tale.”

Over the years, many questions have been posed about the Jews–some by Jews themselves, some by non-Jews.

“For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”
–Malachi 3:6

Some mistakenly believe–as a popular media host claimed just last week–that all the Jews die in the end times.

This is not true.

God has promised that a remnant shall be saved. (This is in addition to the hundreds of thousands of Jews who were earlier saved when they converted into the early Christians.)

“For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.”
–Isaiah 10:22

Even though God has declared that he will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, unbelief and deception continue until today.

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah”
–Jeremiah 31:31

“And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.”
–Galatians 3:29

“What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.”
–Romans 3:1-2

So, the main difference between Jews and Christians: Christians believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ; Jews DO NOT and are still waiting for the Messiah, the Christ.

But God’s Word has promised that God will open the eyes of the Jews in the end times.

“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”
–Zechariah 12:10

God has repeatedly promised that He shall save a remnant.

BUT, he has also promised those he saves will undergo GREAT trials.

“And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.”
–Zechariah 13:8-9

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
