Christmas Holiday Media Traditions

Christmas tree trimming

The last couple of weeks prior to the new year are a time when honored media traditions take place.

No doubt the reader is familiar with one or two of these hallowed holiday media customs?

One of the most-observed aspects of the week preceding Christmas is the replacement of news and other types of stories with feature stories about Christmas, Christmas trees, Christmas shopping, Christmas tips and time-savers, Christmas odd facts: ANYTHING having to do with Christmas–as long as it is not TIME SENSITIVE.

ANOTHER of the frequently-followed media traditions is that for the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, stories will concentrate on lists:  “The Best of…“, “The Worst of…“, “The Best of the Worst.”  These are the types of pieces which can be written days or weeks in advance, and because they are not time sensitive, they can be published ANY TIME.

And so, newspapers across the fruited plain have PLENTY of pieces to publish during those two weeks preceding the new year.

EVEN IF a good many people are taking a vacation during that time.

As far as THIS publication is concerned: we usually run a few Christmas-based articles around that holiday.  But this year, we’re going to try a short Christmas week focusing on that day–even if NO ONE is going on vacation.

IF the reader enjoys these types of articles, he is in luck!

IF the reader does NOT enjoy these types of articles, then he will have to endure it.

This seems like an appropriate time to wish readers a Merry Christmas for 2019.

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
