ALL Sin Is Rebellion Against God

One end times development which has gained traction in the churches–and beyond–is the notion that sin is only a failure or a defect.

That the sinner is somehow a disappointment to God.

But, ALL sin is much more than merely a “failing” or a “lapse in judgment” or a “disappointment” or a”mistake” or  a “weakness.”

Make no mistake: sin MAY be all of the above, but at its heart, sin goes much deeper than a mere mistake.

Sin is a CHOICE; a WILLFUL DECISION; a REBELLIOUS attitude.

ALL sin is REBELLION AGAINST GOD.

Regardless of what is now taught in the times in which we live.

Though the pulpit wolves disagree–preferring to teach sin as a kinder, gentler sort of experience–the Bible is VERY CLEAR: sin IS rebellion.

“Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.”
–Joshua 1:18

“And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath. Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice. Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.”
–Deuteronomy 9:22-24

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”
–Romans 13:1-2

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”
–1SAMUEL 15:23

The end times are one long period of rebellion against God.

So it makes sense that rebellion would be downplayed, and in some cases, justified.

God’s Word often uses the word “transgression” which brings it down to a more personal level.

Transgression

an act, process, or instance of transgressing: such as infringement or violation of a law, command, or duty.

Transgression

an action that breaks a law or rule

Specifically, one of God’s rules or God’s laws.

Transgression

An act that goes beyond generally accepted boundaries

“Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”
–1JOHN 3:4

“Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me. “
–Hosea 7:13

God Himself is very blunt about the actions of the rebels–and those actions are not merely mistakes or bad choices.

They are rebellion against God, God’s authority and God’s Word.

“And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.”
–Ezekiel 2:6

“And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.”
–Ezekiel 20:38

“An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.”
–Proverbs 17:11

Sin CAN BE a mistake or a matter of poor judgment or a failing or a misstep.

Certainly.

However, sin IS rebellion against God.

In the times in which we now find ourselves, who is the reader to believe?

The Word of God OR the word of man?

DOES the reader ever think that his sin is rebellion against a holy God?

DOES the reader even understand what “holy” means?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

DOES the reader believe he is saved?

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
