Peace and Pain

The modern world attempts to equate “pain” SOLELY with the PHYSICAL.

Therefore, the modern world attempts to ‘solve’ pain by solving the supposedly physical causes of pain.

BUT

There are several LEVELS of pain.

There is PHYSICAL pain, which is primarily PAIN which affects the victim PHYSICALLY.

There is MENTAL pain, which primarily affects the mental state or functioning of the victim.

There is EMOTIONAL pain, which primarily affects the emotions of the sufferer.

There is SPIRITUAL pain, in which a person’s SPIRIT suffers primarily.

Most people treat ALL PAIN as if it were PHYSICAL.

Perhaps this is because the most common pains in life seem to be PHYSICAL ones?

BUT–and the reader KNOWS this to be true–many chronic forms of pain are often those which are not PHYSICAL in nature: the prolonged agony of a fractured family during a divorce (ANY divorce–but particularly when the couple involved were together for a LONG time); the pain when one member of a family seemingly fritters his life away engaged in some sort of ‘self-destructive’ behavior; the pain which takes place when a LONG-TIME friend suddenly informs the reader that his company is no longer needed nor necessary.

However, the world treats all pain the same way: AS IF it were physical–so the world offers its same, tired ‘remedies’ for pain: IF all pain is physical, then the solution has to be physical as well.

Which is why many ‘pain medications’ “work“: because they disconnect the sufferer from his physical reality.

Some pain medication is little more than a prescribed form of drunkenness which offers the victim a small surcease from his sorrow in exchange for an alert mental state.

So, what’s the answer?

God’s Word offers believers PEACE–which is a pain-free zone–particularly the pain generated by the heart or mind: ESPECIALLY the pain caused by emotions and mental unrest.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
–John 14:27

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
–Philippians 4:6-7

NOW, the world (and the men of the world) treat God’s Word AS IF it contained the words of man instead of the Words of God.  They read God’s Word, ignore it and go back for another pill for another ill.

Since God created man, He knows man backwards and forwards, insi”peacede and out.

IF man is suffering from ‘mind pain,’ then God can lessen or stop completely the inputs (causes) of such pain.  This is much more effective than trying to deaden the nervous system or otherwise “drinking away” one’s problems.

God can offer the victim TRUE relief–which man cannot.

However, for such relief to work, the victim has to make a few changes in his life.

And, if that is too much to ask…

…then the victim might not have been suffering as much as he let on.

DOES the reader experience PAIN from time-to-time?

DOES the reader enjoy peace–REAL peace–at ANY time?

OR, does the reader call ANY times which he is not in pain a time of “peace“?

It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

DOES the reader believe he is saved?
