One NEVER knows from where the inspiration for a written piece will come.
This piece originated from a recent, short conversation.
The discussion involved this writer and a man who drank liquor, mostly to EXCESS, on a regular basis.
This writer cannot claim that the idea behind the conversation was original. However, this writer does NOT know that the idea was NOT original.
The conversation has NOTHING to do with the end times or last days.
It does, however, have to do with human nature and man’s proclivity to engage in self-destructive acts, all the while trying to justify his dangerous behavior to all who will listen.
Upon entering the drinking man’s humble abode, the thought suddenly struck and was then presented in the form of a question as the man was sitting at his computer in the next room.
“You know, they say that drinking a lot of alcohol destroys brain cells.”
“I’ve heard that.”
“Here’s a question for you: how come the brain cells alcohol destroys are NOT the same brain cells that tell you to drink alcohol?”
“That’s a good question. I don’t know.”
“Did you ever ponder on that?”
“No. But, it would be a good thing in my case.”
“Actually, it would be such a good thing that MOST people might start drinking when they were younger and then they would suddenly quit as they destroyed that last alcohol-loving brain cell: their lives NEVER having felt the scourge of alcohol drinking to excess–particularly in their old age when their bodies cannot take the constant abuse.”
“I’ll have to think on that. That’s a good one. I’ll have to study that a bit.”
It makes a STRONG case that drinking alcohol to excess is NOT a purely physical problem.
It makes a STRONG case that drinking alcohol to excess is a sign of DECEPTION, rather than a physical affliction only–a position with which God’s Word STRONGLY AGREES.
“Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”

WHAT does the reader believe?
It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
