Turning Vice Into Virtue: Normalizing Sin

Vice into Virtue: Normalizing Sin

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
–Isaiah 5:20

Perhaps one of the reasons why sin is so prevalent in the end times is because sin has become the rule rather than the exception.

Sin is the normal state of affairs. It is no longer something that is looked upon as bad; something to be avoided; something which brings unpleasant consequences.

To confirm this, one need look no further than how sin is currently viewed in the United States of America.

MORE: Living A Normal, American Life

Those behaviors which were once condemned and preached against have become the present society’s normal behaviors.  In many cases, these behaviors are not only protected by law, they are sanctioned and promoted by the government itself.

Many behaviors which the Bible declares to be sin, modern America has declared them to be something else.

A few of these behaviors are

“Thou shalt not kill.”
-–Exodus 20:13

CHILD MURDER is now a “choice.”

KILLING THE ELDERLY is called “death with dignity” and “compassionate.”

KILLING THE AFFLICTED is now the “right to die.

Murder is all very normal: almost sanitized to the point where killing someone is looked upon by some as a kindness. The churches help confuse the issue by insisting/teaching that God only forbids the practice of “murder,” not the killing of another human.

As a sort of distraction, the killing of animals–even by other animals–is now called erroneously called (especially by the media) “murder.”

“Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.”
–Ezekiel 16:49-50

PRIDE is a sin.

To be proud is to proclaim one’s sin. And those in the USA are relentlessly proud of something.

“Proud to be an American!”

“This is a proud union household!”

“I’m so proud of these kids!”

(This last remark is seemingly uttered by every coach–at any level–who is interviewed after a win.)

“Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty”
-–Proverbs 23:20-21

Gluttony is almost an American right.

Eating for reasons other than hunger has become so commonplace, it is not even considered a sin.

Americans are told this is not only not a sin, it is expected behavior in the “Land of the Free!

“You can eat as much as you want–you earned it!”

Hence the promotion of restaurants offering “traditional comfort foods.

“For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
–Romans 13:9

Some may think that the biblical prohibition against coveting only extends to desiring what belongs to someone else.

It does not.

To “covet”  is “to wish for earnestly.

Elsewhere, the Bible calls it the “lust of the eyes.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
–1John 2:15-16

In America, to covet is no longer a sin.  It has been transformed into something noble and good. In America, covetousness has been known as “The American Dream.

To earnestly wish for the things of this world–and ceaselessly work for them–is a highly desirable quality!

The sin of covetousness was long ago turned into a virtue in a country which preached the “pursuit of happiness“–and whose businessmen claimed that happiness was the accumulation of material goods.

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD”
–Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Working with a familiar (evil) spirit is not a sin in America: it is a sign of an offbeat or quirky personality.

In some cases–such as dowsing (water witching)–it has become part of America’s heritage.

Those who use divination, witches, wizards, talking with the dead, astrologers, fortune tellers and others have become an accepted part of end times life.

The Bible warned as much.

God’s Word also stated that the end times world will NOT give up its fascination with sorcery.

“And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.”
–Revelation 9:20-21

Sorcery and witchcraft are no longer considered a sin but are signs that the person is “fashionable.”

MORE: Witchcraft in the End Times: Popular and Fashionable

Because end times man is so familiar with sin–it having become an everyday part of normal living–he does not view sin as something to be avoided. Rather, he sees it as something to be embraced; as something fashionable.

It is likely that end times man will line up to receive the mark of the beast, rather than look upon it as something to be avoided at all costs.

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”
-–Revelation 14:11

It has gotten to the point where witchcraft is actively promoted by many churches. The churches have become centers for the dissemination of paganism, the occult and witches’ rituals.

Witchcraft, sorcery and other activities involving familiar spirits have been mainstreamed into modern man’s lifestyle. While not yet considered a virtue, these activities long ago lost their odor of wickedness.

There are any number of other sins which have been mainstreamed into modern American life: tattooing, piercings of the flesh, taking the LORD’s name in vain, gambling, drinking.

Once again, it is hard for those in the world to recognize sin when sin is the norm.

Ours is a country that invented a completely new way of expressing the sin of “covetousness“:  The American Dream.

The USA has specialized in turning sins into virtues.

Pride” or “proud of” is something that is to be proclaimed.

The lust for stuff that we call The American Dream [“Immoderate desire for the possession of something, especially for wealth.”] was never a sin in America.

It was a noble calling.

Gluttony became “just getting our money’s worth” at the All-You-Can-Eat buffet.

No wonder so many Christians are proud that the USA was “founded as a Christian nation.”

Turning Vice into Virtue: An American Specialty

End times mankind has developed a taste for sin–which is considered normal.

End times man has lost his fear of sin because  end times man no longer believes that there are any adverse consequences to sin.

And end times man wonders why he is surrounded by death, sorrow and destruction on all sides.

“Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
–James 1:15

HAS the reader become confused about sin?

DOES the reader even know?

THOUGH time grows short, there is still time left to change direction (repent) and call upon the name of the LORD.

Do not wait until it is too late.

Is your calling and election sure?

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
